KOLLABORA - WE ARE WHAT WE MAKE

Hey Gang,

Wool and the Gang is happy to introduce you to our friends Kollabora. 

Kollabora.com is a new new fashion forward maker community where you can find projects and buy supplies. Kollabora is a social platform for the DIYers, consisting of a craft supply marketplace and multiple maker communities linking projects, supplies, and how tos. 

They’ve launched sewing, knitting, and jewelry making communities with fashion-forward projects and will roll out more home decoration projects next year. Their name comes from collaboro, after all, the Latin word for working together: They believe that we are what we make and people should have the choice between buying or making something. 

Kollabora will be sharing tips and customization ideas with us, for example Leah Coccari-Swift knitted the Lil Joe and added decorative dropped stitches to make our vest a little more shapely. Leah provided a step-by-step guide to how she made this effect. We’re super excited to see what new twists the Kollabora community will add to the Wool and the Gang collection.

Step-by-step instructions

• My Variation - Sides

  I started with about a third of the stitches for the fronts and increased at a regular angle, keeping the inner edge during this section separate so the drop stitch stopped about halfway up.

  
• My Variation - Back

  The back was worked from the top down, so the shapings surrounding the dropped stitches could travel towards eachother and combine into one single column that I dropped once the whole back piece was completed. (see pics!) This created the Y shape on the back.
